Khulna BNP demand cancellation of City Corporation election schedule

One faction of Khulna BNP at a press conference at Khulna Press Club on Wednesday demanded cancellation of city corporation election schedule and called all the party men not to take part in the election.

The faction under the banner of Khulna city unit BNP and led by former Khulna city BNP president M Nurul Islam and general secretary Nazrul Islam Monju also demanded immediate release of the party leaders including BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, withdrawal of emergency rule, national polls by October and Sending Tareque Rahman and Arafat Rahman Coco to abroad for treatment.

Former Khulna City BNP general secretary Nazrul Islam Monju read out the written speech at the press conference. About 100 leaders and activists including the faction leaders – M Nurul Islam, Khulna BNP general secretary Shafiqul Alam Mona, Anwarul Quadir Khokon, Nargis Ali and Morshed Alam were present at the conference.

The speech alleged that the countrymen are presently deprived of proper development works and suffering from severe price hike and deteriorated law and order situation.

Monju alleged that the abnormal price hike of fuels have forced the country people in severe crisis and alleged that the government has been implementing the BNP chairperson minus formula.

When asked about nomination form collection of one of his faction leader – the acting Khulna City Corporation mayor Moniruzzaman Moni, Monju said that they have asked him not to take part in the coming city corporation election and if anyone goes against the central direction of not participating in the polls, they would inform the central party to take organizational punishment against him.

Answering to another question, Monju alleged that the government, election commission and Awami League are making a pre-planned game in the name of city corporation election.
