2 employees of NICVD held for raping patient’s attendant

Two employees of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases were on Wednesday arrested for allegedly raping an attendant of a patient Tuesday night.
Delwar Hossain, 25, and Mozammel Haque, 27, two technicians at the blood and x-ray departments, were also suspended by the
institute authorities for their misdeed.
The victim, wife of a businessman of Manikganj undergoing treatment at ward No 4 from June 24, alleged that she had come out of the ward for collecting a bottle of water.
Finding Delwar and Mozammel gossiping in a room, she asked them for a bottle of water and they took her into another room on the pretext of providing water at about 9:30pm.
‘As soon as she got in, the two locked the room from inside and Delwar, who is also one of her distant relations, raped her first,’ the police said quoting the victim.
The victim later told the matter to her husband, who informed it to the Tejgaon police.
The police went to the hospital and arrested the suspected rapists at about 11:30pm. A case was filed with Tejgaon police station in connection with the raping.
The police produced the culprits before the court from where they were sent to jail.
The police also sent the victim to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical test.
‘We have already suspended both the technicians,’ the institute director, AKM Mohibullah, said on Wednesday, adding ‘The government will decide their fate.’
